In this project, we want to explore the relationships between new and old, nature and architecture. We also want to highlight the bamboo forest behind the building, and the scenery of the mountain at front. The original base building was an old dry-earth house, burned down due to a fire. The new design reflects the spirit and history of the original site, and the changes between old and new. The heavy rammed earth representing history is put into the glass-reinforced steel structure with the appearance of a treasure box.
The interior design uses warm rammed earth and wood, with walls and stairs dividing the space into two, and its shape is also part of the sculpture on display. The wall is enlarged in accordance with the perspective direction of the viewpoint, strengthening the sense of scale and depth of the original building, making the limited space appear larger.
In daylight, the glass box reflects the mountain view, and the volume of the rammed earth house is faintly visible. When nights come, the glass box disappears in the dark night, and the rough old house appears under the dim light. The building conforms to and reflects seasonal changes, hiding in nature.
