The project is located in Fengwu Village, Yixian County, Huangshan, and the Home Art Gallery nestled amidst the mountains and waters is a multifunctional building that serves as an art exhibition hall, artist studios, and residential. Situated on the northern side with the mountains as a backdrop and facing a vast field to the south, the gallery is surrounded by a sea of rapeseed flowers, creating a splendid and dreamlike scene in spring. Comprising three houses, it forms an artistic enclave within the rural landscape of Fengwu Village, reinterpreting the traditional Huizhou village architecture with contemporary construction techniques of grey tiles and white walls. The sculptural and expressive architectural volumes, changing with the play of light and shadow, showcase the charm of the spatial design.

Considering the relatively small size of the surrounding houses in the village, the site was divided into three sections for residence, artist studios, and art exhibition hall to minimize the massing impact to the local context. Small alley spaces were created between these spaces, connecting and intertwining different functional areas to provide an experience reminiscent of the lanes and alleys in a Huizhou countryside. In order to harmonize with the picturesque rural scenery, modern design language was employed to translate Huizhou architecture, seeking a subtle interaction between the building and nature: white volumes and the effects of light and shadow, small windows adapted to the local humid climate. The design not only responds to the rural texture but also frames the pastoral landscape into a series of artworks by incorporating garden views through strategically placed windows, offering changing perspectives with each step.
