The Tsinghua Kindergarten is a kindergarten with 12 classes belonged to Tsinghua University. The strategy is to fully integrate the building with the environments. The environments is not only the surrounding, but also the context of Tsinghua University. The red brick wall is the architectural feature of the old Tsinghua campus. But the contemporary lifestyle and construction are different from the past. How to build a modern red brick building was the starting point.
A curved linear building arc-shaped interface on the south expands the indoor activity space, penetrates with outdoor activities, and forms architectural features. Use recycled coal gangue blocks to replace traditional red bricks, which are environmentally friendly and energy-saving. The exposed concrete strips support the blocks , which implicate the coal gangue blocks as the materials of skin than structure. It completes the translation from traditional context to Modern .
The design attitude strives to be simple and interesting rather than complicated, these are the results of reflection on the current impetuous children's architecture.
